Background:
Project to reinforce grass areas at both ends of the tarmac runway, so that they could serve as safety overrun areas and be used by aircraft without problems. The land was first cleared, some new topsoil added and seeded. Before installing the PERFO tiles the ground was compacted with a roller. Then the area was watered to ease the installation of the PERFO matting. The PERFO sections were then progressively laid out, clipped together and compacted into the ground using a roller. After a few months the reinforced areas were once again overgrown with grass.
